Our program specifically devoted to building a love of dance in our youngest dancers! In our Building Blocks program, teachers utilize creative imagery and fun to engage students in the learning process, while introducing basic dance technique and skills. These skills are the essential tools dancers will bring with them as they progress through our program through graduation, including a strong love and passion for movement.
Each class is specifically formatted to work through the physical and emotional development of our dancers. Age requirements noted below are based upon the age at the beginning of our regular school year season (Sept - June). Dancers undergo significant developments in such a short period of time and we want dancers to be set up for a successful first day with us!
All combo classes for dancers ages 2 to 4 years are Tap and Ballet! Classes will be split equally to allow our dancers to focus on each dance style, stay engaged with each activity and have a fun experience!
Our Accelerated Combo class for Kindergartners is 55 minutes and length and is a combination of tap, ballet and jazz! Preparing our Kindergartners for their first hour long class in a specialized style!
First day dancing for your little one? Check out our "What to Expect" page and let us know if you have any questions on how we can make their first day as magical as possible!
All Classes have a required Dress Code All students are required to wear appropriate attire which adheres to the studio Dress Code for the class(es) they attend. Students who do not come in proper attire, with proper hair will not be allowed to participate in class.
For all of our classes, we are able to order everything your dancer needs!
Why a dress code?
Dancers create lines and shapes with their bodies. A form fitting leotard and tights with hair pulled up into a bun (or out of face if hair is shorter), are the best uniforms to use for ballet and younger combo classes in order for instructors to see the created lines and the correct use of musculature in each of our dancers.
Having a dress code allows dancers to feel part of a group working toward a collective goal. Often times dancers can feel left out or different if not dressed in a standard dance attire similar to their peers.
In our experience, Dancers ultimately work harder, are more focused, when appropriately dressed and prepared for class. Having a specified outfit and hair style sets it apart from play clothes and play time. This is their special outfit for their special class.
**Please note, our dress code is enforced both for in-person classes as well as ZOOM.
(Includes: Tiny Twos, Creative Dance, Combo, and Accelerated Combo)
These classes are COMBO classes, meaning that they include both Ballet AND Tap! Accelerated Combo includes Ballet, Tap AND Jazz. Dancers will participate in both styles every week and require both style shoes!
Girls - leotard (any color), tights, pink ballet slippers, black tap shoes
Boys - white t-shirt, black pants, black ballet slippers, black tap shoes
Skirts are optional. For our youngest dancers skirts are often distracting, and can often get in the way of specific skills. We ask that our youngest dancers come dressed in just a leotard and tights!
